Age Concern Gillingham Flower Festival
"Great to see these people so talented", Councillor says

Cllr Hewett and Rob Smith with members Sheila Farthing and Harry Philbeam
Councillor Vaughan Hewett and BBC South East reporter Rob Smith were at the opening of Age Concern’s Flower Festival, which ran from Monday 14th May through to Friday 18th May 2007.
The Age Concern centre in Woodlands Road, Gillingham held the flower festival to raise money to buy a 50 inch plasma television screen to show films for their day members. The sale of plants along with garden ornaments and cream teas was the start of fund raising events to reach their objective.
Cllr Vaughan Hewett (Con, Rainham North) commented, “The ornaments were skilfully and careful painted by the pensioners. It was great to see them so talented and active. The Age Concern’s flower show had all the characteristics of RHS Chelsea Flower, only a week later, with rain on the opening day.”
