Background

Barry Kemp is married. He and his wife, Joyce, have lived in Rainham Central ward for most of his life.

Although Barry has now retired from full time teaching, his experiences as a teacher, both locally and in Gravesend, have made him ideally suited to recognising the concerns of children, young people and their parents.

Barry is the Organist and Choirmaster at St Margaret's Parish Church in Rainham, a position he has held since 1985. He serves on the Parochial Church Council and is an active member of the Heritage Committee as it seeks to raise funds for repair to the church roof.

Barry's family have been resident in Rainham for 200 years. He therefore cares passionately about Rainham and has a vested interest in finding solutions to the problems that beset the local community.
